Kwara United head coach Tunde Sanni has declared that Asante Kotoko will not be able to halt his team’s progress in their CAF Confederation Cup tie. Sanni expressed strong confidence ahead of the return leg, pointing to home advantage and his squad’s tactical readiness.

Speaking ahead of the clash, he stated, "Kotoko cannot stop us here. We are a difficult team to beat in Abeokuta, and with our fans behind us, we will show our true strength."  Sanni also acknowledged Kotoko’s pedigree but insisted that Kwara have prepared thoroughly.

In recent media, he added: "Asante Kotoko cannot stop us, the team is tactically sound and we are highly prepared for the game. Kwara United is not an easy team in this …"

We believe Coach Sanni’s bold talk is precisely what a team needs before a high-stakes continental fixture. Confidence, when rooted in preparation and belief, can tip tight matches. By asserting that "Kotoko cannot stop us," Sanni is sending a psychological message: Kwara intend to press, compete, and impose themselves, not merely react.

There is truth in his words. It’s one thing to show confidence in interviews it’s another to deliver on the pitch. The home leg in Abeokuta offers Kwara a chance to capitalize. The crowd, familiarity with conditions, and tactical planning all weigh in their favour. But Kotoko come with experience and must ensure his side doesn’t get drawn into a chaotic contest.

Discipline will be key. If Kotoko push, Kwara must remain organised, avoid needless errors, and take their chances. Sanni has said his side is tactically sound; that soundness must carry into execution. It’s not enough to believe you must also deliver.

We anticipate a charged return leg. The margins will be small, the stakes high. If Kwara carry Sanni’s words onto the pitch with courage and composure, they may well silence doubters. They have declared intent—now it’s time to prove it.
